Filming Los Angeles Above 10,000 Feet
I fly an airplane above 10,000 feet to film Los Angeles from a new perspective rarely seen before. Because of the airspace restrictions of LAX, it's difficult to fly over many parts of the city, especially at altitudes above a couple thousand feet. So I put some cameras on a small airplane and went above the LAX airspace restriction of 10,000 feet.
Watch it in 4K!

Flying an airplane over Tulare Lake 2023: What happened??
Просмотров 425 тыс.10 месяцев назад
The newly reformed Tulare Lake has flooded the the central valley of California in 2023. One of the wettest winters on record brought back this lake after it was drained for agricultural use in the late 1800s. Check out extraordinary footage as I fly a small airplane over the lake to showcase the immense flooding and explain the history of the lake and why this is such a significant event.

Our dog's first airplane flight was NOT a success :(
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.Год назад
We wanted to take our 6 month old dog up in the airplane for her first flight in my Grumman Tiger airplane. Unfortunately it didn't work out as we had hoped. Our dog became extremely stressed. We also try out the 4paws aviation dog headset to see how it performed. Lessons were learned and hopefully the next flight will be a better experience.

Flying over the Huntington Beach oil spill

See an aerial view of the Huntington Beach oil spill as I fly over in my small airplane to view the damage. On Saturday, October 2nd, over 3,000 barrels of crude oil began leaking from the Elly oil platform 5 miles off the coast of Huntington Beach, California. This massive oil spill is a potential ecological disaster for Southern California's pristine coastline.

Flying across the country in a small airplane is kind of like taking a road trip. We flew my small airplane, a Grumman Tiger, from California to Arkansas and back to visit family for the 4th of July. Thunderstorms along the way forced us to change our ...
Airplane camping at Kern Valley, California with gusty winds!

I took my Grumman Tiger to go airplane camping at the beautiful campground of Kern Valley, California, located in the lower Sierra Nevada Mountains. The winds were gusty that day, making for a very sporty approach and landing. The airport is located a few miles south of the small town of Kernville and sits right next to the Kern River. It's a short hop from Los Angeles in the plane and feels li...
Death Valley airports are in danger of closing: Save Stovepipe Wells

Death Valley has two paved runways and both of them are in danger of closing to most general aviation airplanes. I often see pilots flying in, parking for days and not doing a complete preflight before leaving. It does not take much time to check the actual fuel quantity with a stick and doing a fuel quality check with a sample. Check the fuel for color, smell, and particles.

I have flown here in 1991 at the same altitude. What truck me is that all city’s are so blocked. Also the Tera is sand brown with some patches of green. It was not appealing at all. Didn’t like the view at all. Was this the big famous city of the west usa? After some days spend on the ground we disappeared eastwards over the big mountain ridges to find Sedona and later texas state. More green more nicer Tera. But noting beats the EU .. best regards form Amsterdam

Pretty amazing footage. Especially the clear air! LA area is about 10,000 square miles of houses, mountains, or water. And sometimes the houses are in the mountains or water as well as the flat places. Looking at those images you can see how different it is from European cities, and why it is pretty much impossible to make traditional European-based public transport ideas work in the US. That said, I was happy to see a lot of places the Red Cars used to run. They are pretty much lost on the ground now, but can still be seen easily in places from the air.

    • @Wolficorntv
      @Wolficorntv 19 дней назад

Getting good visibility from that altitude (especially in SoCal) is tricky. It may look nice and sunny on the ground but as soon as you begin to climb, the haze really becomes evident. Winter is typically the only time you will get 25+ mile visibility in the LA basin, and even then it is few and far between. I had been tracking it for two months, waiting for the right day. In fact I aborted 2x in the air once I realized conditions weren't optimal for aerial photography.
